APCOT 2028 is an ideal platform for researchers at all career stages — from postgraduate students to established academics and industry professionals — to build professional networks, establish collaborations, and explore opportunities across the Asia-Pacific region and internationally.

The conference will feature plenary lectures by world-leading researchers, Poster, Presentation, and Full Paper submissions, industry sessions, and an exhibition showcasing the latest commercial technologies and instrumentation.

// History

Founded in Xiamen, 2002.

APCOT was established with its inaugural edition in Xiamen, China, in 2002, by a steering committee of researchers from across the Asia-Pacific. The intent was a regional forum that could host work in the design, fabrication and application of transducers and micro-nano systems alongside the larger Transducers conference.

Twelve editions later, APCOT has become the field’s home in the Asia-Pacific, with proceedings published openly through the conference website. It alternates biennially between research hubs in China, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Hong Kong and Australia — convening a community that now spans nearly forty countries.

// 2028 Theme

Sensing the World, Shaping the Future.

The conference theme for the Gold Coast edition acknowledges a moment of transition. Two decades of CMOS-compatible micro-fabrication have produced the inertial, acoustic and optical sensors that quietly run the connected world. The next decade is harder: low-power AI on the sensor die, quantum-limited measurement, implantable bioelectronics, and field-deployable diagnostics demand new fabrication science.

APCOT 2028 brings together the people working on each of these fronts. We have organised the technical programme around fifteen cross-cutting tracks designed to spark unexpected collaborations — between, for instance, photonic-MEMS specialists and the wearables community, or between materials chemists and packaging engineers.

// Hosts

Hosted by Griffith University.

The 2028 edition is hosted by Griffith University on the Gold Coast, with Prof. Dzung Viet Dao serving as General Chair. Local organisation is supported by colleagues at The University of Western Australia and the University of New South Wales.

The conference enjoys the support of the Australian and Queensland Governments, regional sensors and electronics societies, and a network of industry sponsors building the next generation of sensing devices.
